8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The Northborough Junior Women’s Club presented the 11th Women in STEM Conference for Middle School Girls on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Algonquin Regional High School. This conference is an opportunity for these young women to be exposed to and experience vocations in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
After an opening keynote presentation by Dr. Kerry Wilkins, the girls attended four 40-minute interactive hands-on career workshops. Presenters represented fields such as Forensic Chemistry, Pharmacy, Architecture, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Teaching, Engineering, and Medical Professions. The presenters explain what they do in their occupation, share different tips on courses of study & ways to train for their profession, and provide hands-on exploration/activities.
A luncheon followed the workshops and offered an opportunity for the students and presenters to continue discussions in a more informal setting.
